Everyone knew that Tom Brady would break Drew Brees’ all-time passing yard record at some point during his return to Foxborough tonight. And the word was that, while he wouldn’t receive much of a ceremony, they would pause the game to pay tribute to Brady’s accomplishment.
But then, Brady went and broke the record, but the officials didn’t stop the action. Rather, Brady was forced to call a timeout, taking the NBC feed to a commercial break. And when they returned, all the viewers saw was a Brady lining up for the next play, while a scoreboard graphic congratulating the Bucs quarterback was displayed on the jumbotron in the background.
It was weird, to say the least. And it definitely didn’t go unnoticed.

Viewers had every right to question why they were robbed of a Tom Brady record-breaking ceremony. And apparently, FOX’s Jay Glazer has your answer.
According to the NFL insider, it was actually Brady’s request that they not stop the game once he breaks the record.
That right there is a GOAT move from Tommy, but the NFL still could have taken it upon themselves to honor one of the game’s greatest after he broke one of the league’s most prestigious records.
