Former USWNT star Carli Lloyd has revealed that she had the opportunity to perhaps play another type of football before she retired.
Lloyd apparently left at least two NFL teams impressed after showing off her kicking skills while visiting the Eagles training camp in 2019, scoring a field goal from 55 yards out in sensational fashion.
Lloyd played over 300 games for the United States and is a four-time Olympian, having won two Olympic gold medals and two FIFA Women’s World Cups. She is also a two-time FIFA Player of the Year.
The 42-year-old had the pleasure of spending a day with the Eagles during training camp in 2019, having come off a second World Cup triumph. And she went viral after easily kicking in a 55-yarder.

Following her impressive kick, Lloyd held talks with a team about playing for them in preseason after they reached out to her. She claims to have had serious interest in earning a roster spot.

NFL Teams Were After Carli Lloyd After Seeing Her Kick A Football
The above did not end up happening, but during a recent interview on the ‘Up & Adams’ podcast, she revealed multiple NFL teams were interested in taking her on.
“It was pretty serious with a couple of teams,” she explained.
“It worked out the way that it was supposed to work out and that’s all that matters, but it was a cool experience—even to just show young girls and women around the world that anything is possible.
“I think if there’s one position in the NFL, a kicker would be a possible position—not to say you wouldn’t have big men running at you if your kick is blocked. It was a good experience, but it’s done and dusted.”
Host Kay Adams tried her best to get Lloyd to disclose the interested teams, but she would not be drawn into doing so. Sadly, the world may never know.
