Caleb Williams could be making a huge mistake that could potentially cost him millions, according to former NFL star Keyshawn Johnson.
A report from this Friday has revealed that the former USC quarterback will not be participating in medicals at the NFL Scouting Combine this week, something the QB has since confirmed himself.
Williams has also revealed that he will be doing medicals with the teams he has visits with, but Johnson reckons it isn’t a good move and has questioned whether the player is trying to “manipulate” where he ends up.
“Is he trying to manipulate his draft positioning by saying, ‘I don’t want to do this. I don’t want to do that?’ That’s a bad move,” Johnson said on Friday’s episode of ‘Undisputed’. “Because you’re losing millions of dollars if you’re not the first pick in the draft.”
The former wide receiver also offered some insight on the way medicals are run at the combine, pointing out that players aren’t put through 32 checks.
“You don’t visit 32 different doctors and 32 different teams,” he explained. “That’s not what happens. They have your charts and they’re looking at every single thing. And then there’s main doctors in the room doing the examination. They pass that information to the 32 teams.”

Whether this hurts the player’s draft stock remains to be seen. He had already opted to skip the on-field drills at the event, which isn’t expected to affect him. However, he is believed to be the first invitee to skip medicals at the combine, so we’ll just have to wait and see how it plays out.
