This video should officially mark the end of Malik McDowell’s NFL career.
In it, we see a police officer from Lathrup, Michigan pull over the 6’6″, 300-pound defensive tackle in front of a convenience store on a snowy February night. McDowell was stopped for speeding and spinning out on the road at one point, but when the officer asks him for his license and registration, he refuses and continues to demand to speak to a supervisor.
After multiple requests, Malik gets out of his car and attempts to walk into the store. The cop tries to stop him and the two begin to wrestle inside the store. Malik is finally tackled to the ground but he continues to refuse to get on his stomach. After multiple warnings, the 2017 second-round pick is tased, but it doesn’t even phase him, as he rips out the prongs and attacks the officer.
Help finally arrives and Malik can actually be seen trying to snatch a female cop’s gun from her holster. Eventually, they’re able to handcuff McDowell and take him away in a car.
Here’s a look at the insane footage of the incident:
McDowell was said to have smelled like intoxicants, although there is no word on whether it was drugs or alcohol. He was arraigned in May and is scheduled to appear back in court later this month.

The 23-year-old has been out of the NFL since July 2018, when he was cut by the Seahawks after injuring himself during an ATV accident. He recently had a visit with the Cowboys, but I highly doubt that even Jerry Jones would consider rostering him after this.
As for the arresting officer, he’s said to have only suffered some minor injuries. Props to him. Not only did he display an incredible amount of patience, but he also held his own against a dude twice his size.
Here’s a look at the mugshot:
