Glenn Foster Jr. has shockingly died in police custody shortly after being arrested in Alabama, the Pickens County coroner’s office has confirmed to multiple outlets.
Foster, who played two seasons as a defensive lineman for the New Orleans Saints, was arrested on Sunday and was initially booked on charges of reckless endangerment and resisting arrest by “attempt to elude.”
The charges were later adjusted to three counts of simple assault and one count of third degree robbery.
Many became aware of Foster’s death after a state lawmaker from Illinois posted a tribute on Twitter.
“No words right now. Rest Powerfully, Little Brother,” said Rep. Kam Buckner of the Illinois State House’s 26th District. “You left your mark everywhere you went. Glenn Foster, we love you bruh.”
Former teammate Terron Armstead reacted also reacted to the news on social media:
“I really can’t find the words to properly express. Rest In Peace Glenn Foster, you’ll be missed bro!” Armstead wrote.

The 31-year-old was an undrafted free agent who appeared in 17 games with the Saints in 2013 and 2014. After his career came to an end, he stayed in the New Orleans area and worked as a developer, contractor and real estate agent.
Pickens County coroner Chad Harless told WWL, the CBS affiliate in New Orleans, that the results of an autopsy are pending.
