Ty Law watched Sunday’s game featuring the Patriots and Cowboys and did not like what he saw from his former team.
In a Tuesday appearance on WEEI’s Greg Hill Show, the former New England Patriots cornerback criticized the Patriots defense for giving up 445 passing yards to Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott — out of 567 yards of total offense. He was really upset about how the Pats let another team come into Gillette Stadium and walk all over them.
“I’m really upset about what’s going on,” Law said. “Because you don’t let people come in there and walk all over you, throw the ball like that anytime they want to. I mean, that’s shameful.”
Law agreed with co-host Jermaine Wiggins’ suggestion that the defense lacked a true No. 1 cornerback.
“You have to have somebody that can cover,” Law explained. “I mean, we were looking for Jackson to step up. He was playing pretty good football. But I didn’t want to pass him the mantle just yet when we’re talking about him compared to Stephon Gilmore. But you have to have guys in the back that can step up and make plays.”
Law suggested a major rehaul in the upcoming draft, saying that the team should invest heavily in rebuilding the defense.

“Defense, they have to step up,” Law said. “I don’t know what’s gonna happen in this offseason. I can tell you right now, if I had a vote, we’d be going first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth round — we’re getting all defensive guys and we’re gonna get some wide receivers and running back in free agency because something’s got to give with the defense.”
The Patriots fell to 2-4 after their overtime loss to the Cowboys Sunday.
They have an opportunity to bounce back when they host the New York Jets at Gillette Stadium.
