Tom Brady’s former Patriots teammates have revealed that the seven-time Super Bowl winner was distraught over 2014’s deflategate scandal and was in tears after it surfaced.
The allegations crept up after the AFC Championship Game that year and thrust Brady under scrutiny as he was accused of asking managers to release pressure from the game balls to give his team an advantage. The former quarterback was suspended for four games while the Pats were fined $1 million and forfeited two draft picks in 2016.
According to Hall of Famer Darrelle Revis, who spent one season in New England, an upset Brady addressed his teammates before the Super Bowl and burst into tears.
“When Deflategate happened and Tom was the headliner of the whole situation, he addressed us as a team,” Revis said on a recent episode of Apple’s ‘The Dynasty: New England Patriots’ (H/T TMZ). “You could tell he was distraught.”
“He was actually bawling his eyes out in front of us.”

Brady would assure teammates he would not ruin the season for them as he vehemently denied the claims.
Team owner Robert Kraft also spoke about the scandal, claiming that the two-week break between the AFC Championship Game and Super Bowl was “very difficult on Tommy.”
Danny Amendola, another former teammate, said the matter took a huge toll on Brady as his kids were made to deal with abuse at school.
