Horrible. Just horrible.
On Tuesday, former NFL running back Cierre Wood was arrested for first-degree child abuse following the death of his girlfriend’s 5-year-old daughter. Those charges have since been upgraded to first-degree murder.
Wood and his 25-year-old girlfriend, Amy Taylor, were arrested in Las Vegas at Summerlin Hospital on the same night that Amy’s daughter was pronounced dead. An autopsy is currently being conducted and the cause of death has yet to be disclosed. Both Cierre and Amy were expected to appear in court this morning.
Wood made stops with the Texans, Patriots, Ravens, Seahawks and Bills during his NFL career, rarely amounting to anything more than a training camp/practice squad member. His last couple of seasons in professional football have been spent north of the border in the Canadian Football League, where he was currently a free agent.
