Cardale Jones was among those to pay tribute to Dwayne Haskins, but also had something to say about what Adam Schefter put out online.
Haskins, a former Buckeyes quarterback who went on to play for Washington and Pittsburgh in the NFL, died on Saturday. The 24-year-old NFL player was killed when he was struck by a dump truck on a Florida highway.
Former Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback Cardale Jones took to Twitter and blasted Adam Schefter for what he said about Haskins.
“How about “ Dwayne Haskins, son, husband, buckeye brother, friend, beloved teammate has passed away” TF his career ups and downs have to do with him unfortunately losing his life. STFU! Let his family & friends grieve instead of throwing shade. Praying for the Haskins family!!” Jones tweeted.
Schefter reported the tragic news that Haskins died after getting hit by a car in South Florida, but added unnecessary words in his since-deleted tweet: “Dwayne Haskins, a standout at Ohio State before struggling to catch on with Washington and Pittsburgh, died this morning when he got hit by a car in South Florida.”
ESPN recently re-signed Schefter to a five-year deal worth roughly $9 million annually.

Schefter’s distasteful words weren’t the worst thing said about Haskins in the aftermath of his death. Cowboys Hall of Famer and NFL analysts Gil Brandt said Haskins was “living to be dead.”
