Last week, former Ohio State player Chukwuemeka Nnamdi Onyejekwe relayed terrible news that Ivan Douglas was “fighting for his life” in a battle with COVID-19.
“One of my former teammates and Buckeye brother Ivan Douglas is fighting for his life right now,” he tweeted.
“He’s in the ICU in a medically induced coma right now from COVID. He’s a husband/father with two little children. We need him.”
On Thursday, it was announced by his teammate that the former Ohio State offensive lineman had tragically lost his life as a result of the terrible virus.
“Our good brother Ivan Douglas has passed away,” Mekka Don tweeted this afternoon. “Please keep his family in your prayers.”

Douglas played for the Buckeyes’ 2002 national championship team before having his career cut short one year later by blood clots. He was just 41-years-old.
Douglas served as a student assistant coach in 2003 and tried to make a comeback with the NFL’s Oakland Raiders the following year, but did not make the team.
Prayers to his family.
