In Austin, Texas, the name Ricky Williams carries a massive amount of weight as he still remains the school’s all-time leading rusher.
Now, Longhorns as well as NFL fans will have to learn him by a new name. Williams, 45, has legally changed his name and is now known as Errick Miron.
Born Errick Williams, “Ricky” was a nickname that stuck. Ricky Williams is creating a new legacy for both he and his wife by taking her last name and going by Errick Miron.
Ricky took the last name of his wife of five years, Linnea. He publicly acknowledged his name change during a recent interview on The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz.
“Something I’ve been thinking about and talking about, and I finally went through the steps. It was quick and easy, and it felt really meaningful. I’ve found that that’s been really powerful in creating ease, intimacy and trust in my relationship. I think it’s cool. It’s somewhere where we can both win.”
Williams was a two-time All-American, who won the Doak Walker Award twice and was All-Big 12 First Team three times.
Williams, whose 11-year career was spent with the Saints, Dolphins, and Ravens, is also only one of three people to rush for over 6,000 yards in both college and in the NFL.
