Mr. Irrelevant, Brock Purdy, will be the man in charge of operations at the back for the San Francisco 49ers against the Dallas Cowboys this Sunday.
Purdy got his first taste of the NFL playoffs last weekend in a win against the Seattle Seahawks and will hope to see his good form continue against a Cowboys team that will be brimming with confidence after their result against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday.
The unlikely starting QB showed his nerves against Seattle last Saturday, getting off to a slow start. And, although he picked things up and helped the Niners progress to the divisional round, former Bucs quarterback has offered Brock some advice ahead of Sunday’s important clash.
“So I’m giving him a piece of advice: Stick your finger down your throat after the first series and make yourself heave,” King told Kyle Odegard of Compare.bet on Thursday. “I’ve done it, and for whatever reason it shocks your body back to normalcy.”
King was faced with a similar situation back in 1999, when he was thrown into the deep end as a starter for the Buccaneers because of injuries. Like Purdy, he took it in stride, winning six out of eight games to reach the NFC Championship Game, nearly making it to the Super Bowl.
Given who the advice is coming from, Purdy should probably consider blowing some chunks before he plays the Cowboys. Yet something tells us he won’t.
