Former quarterback and current ESPN college football analyst Ryan Leaf is enjoying July 31st more than anyone else as he has reason to celebrate.
Leaf took to Twitter on Friday and noted that he has been 100 months sober by posting his ‘daily reflection on the Alcoholics anonymous’ website.
Leaf needed this good news after he suffered a setback in his personal life when he found himself arrested on a charge of misdemeanor domestic battery back in May.
The 44-year-old starred at Washington State and finished third in the Heisman Trophy voting in 1997, when he led the Cougars to the Rose Bowl. He was then selected with the No. 2 overall draft pick of the San Diego Chargers in 1998 but had just a four-year NFL career before his personal life fell apart.
He was hired by ESPN ahead of the 2019 college football season. Leaf also worked for the Pac-12 Network last season and has been co-hosting a show on SiriusXM’s Pac-12 channel.
