Nick Foles just has a way of rising to the occasion in big-time moments.
Nearly six years after leading the Philadelphia Eagles to a Super Bowl 52 championship (the franchise’s first Lombardi Trophy), Foles added two more special items to his trophy room: A pair of gold medals in the game of pickleball.
Foles won the medals in a pair of separate division at the PPA Finals that were held in San Clemente, California.
Foles hasn’t formally announced his retirement from football, but if his time on the gridiron is done, he’s got a new sport to star in. Obviously, that’s bad news for his fellow pickleball PPA competitors.
A third-round pick of the Eagles in 2012 (88th overall), Foles wrote one of the greatest underdog stories in NFL history six seasons ago. The journeyman QB considered retiring in 2016 before signing with the Kansas City Chiefs in free agency to back up Alex Smith.
In 2017, Foles returned to the Eagles to back up starter Carson Wentz. The latter suffered a season-ending ACL tear in Week 14 against the Los Angeles Rams, forcing the Eagles to roll with Foles the rest of the way.

Foles had a near-flawless postseason and led the Eagles to Super Bowl 52. There, he outdueled Tom Brady and the dynastic New England Patriots and led Philly to a 41-33 upset victory. Foles was named Super Bowl MVP after throwing for 373 yards and three touchdowns.
