Former NFL star wide receiver Josh Gordon is taking his talents to the XFL.
Gordon will join the Seattle Sea Dragons, who drafted him in the sixth round (45th overall) in the XFL Draft. The league is set to relaunch on Feb. 18, three years after its initial relaunching project was shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Gordon appeared in two games for the NFL’s Tennessee Titans in the 2022 season, but he was released in October. He was targeted once in the two games with the Titans.
As a member of the Cleveland Browns, Gordon led the NFL in receiving during the 2013 season with 1,646. He earned Pro Bowl and First-team All Pro nods that same year, but was given a 10-game suspension in 2014 for violating NFL’s substance abuse policy.
Gordon would be suspended for the entire 2015 season. Early in the 2016 season, he announced that he was entering rehab, and Gordon also missed the entire year there.
He appeared in five games in the 2017 season. The Browns traded him to the New England Patriots early in the 2018 season, and he performed well with 40 catches for 720 yards and three touchdowns.

Late in the 2018 season, Gordon announced that he was stepping away to focus on his mental health. The Patriots went on to win Super Bowl 53 against the Los Angeles Rams, and the team later gave Gordon a championship ring.
Gordon returned to football in the 2019 season, which he split with the Patriots and Seattle Seahawks. He didn’t play in 2020 and was ultimately released by the Seahawks before joining the Kansas City Chiefs in 2021, where he appeared in 12 games.
