Former NFL defensive lineman Derek Wolfe hunted and killed a huge mountain lion that had become a menace to a rural neighborhood in Colorado.
Derek, a fisherman and hunter who’s quite skilled with a bow, detailed the kill via Instagram on Thursday, revealing he was alerted by a resident who lost two dogs to the dangerous beast and was in fear over what it might do next. The former football player got on the big cat’s trail when he found a deer it had presumably just killed, before hiking a remarkable distance up a mountain.
“Exhausted, dehydrated, cramping I drew back my bow and sent an arrow through him,” he wrote.
Wolfe added he had to crawl backward down the mountain with the dead mountain lion, and even fell 10 feet off a rock face.
“Any guess how big this thing was?” he asked.
He later commented that it weighed 195 lbs.

Quite a brave feat from Wolfe, who spent eight years in the NFL. The 32-year-old played for the Denver Broncos and Baltimore Ravens, winning a Super Bowl with the former in 2015.
As amazing as this is, it’s not Wolfe’s only notable kill. He took a 2,000-lb buffalo down last July, using two arrows for that one.
He certainly has the name for it.
