Former Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton caused a stir recently by outlining the difference between game changers and game managers at the position.
This week, he is causing another stir but it has to do with his NFL career.
The former league MVP Cam Newton hasn’t taken a regular-season snap in the NFL since 2021. While it’s been essentially two full seasons since the former league MVP has been on an NFL roster, he’s always left the door open and that door is wide open now after his latest comments.
On “Good Morning Football,” Newton said he would be open to returning to the NFL under one condition — he play with the Falcons.
Former wide receiver Brandon Marshall asked Newton to give his top three teams he would want to play for, but Cam stated it was only for one team.
“It’s always been about family, and I don’t see myself leaving Atlanta,” Newton said. “So if it’s not Atlanta, I don’t want it.”
That’s when Marshall started singing while bringing up Bill Belichick’s name since he has interviewed for the job. Cam started singing with him leading to the belief he would play for him again should he get the job.

Atlanta is likely going to be searching for a new quarterback in 2023. But chances are, even if Belichick does get the job, Newton won’t be under center.
Newton played under Belichick during the 2020 season. In his only season for the Patriots, Newton accumulated 2,657 passing yards with just eight touchdowns and 10 interceptions.
He also added an additional 592 yards and 12 touchdowns on the ground.
Belichick has already interviewed twice for the Falcons job.
