Former Minnesota Vikings star pass-rusher Everson Griffen has been arrested for a suspected DWI offense, his second in the past year.
The Purple Persuasion X/Twitter account shared a police report of Everson Griffen’s arrest in Mound, Minnesota for a probable cause of driving while intoxicated (DWI). According to the report, he was arrested at 12:59 a.m. local time on Wednesday by the MSPW.
Griffen was arrested in July of last year in Chanhassen, Minnesota for suspicion of driving under the influence. He reached a plea deal this past February and received a one-year probation sentence.
Per the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, a person who commits a second drunk driving offense can face up to a year in prison.

The 36-year-old Everson Griffen played in the NFL from 2010 to 2021. He spent 11 seasons with the Vikings (2010 to 2019 and 2021) and split the 2020 campaign with the Dallas Cowboys and Detroit Lions.
A key part of the Vikings’ stingy defense, Griffen earned four Pro Bowl nods and led Minnesota to four playoff appearances during his 11-year tenure, including a trip to the 2017 NFC Championship Game.
Everson Griffen Was One Of The Top Pass-Rushers Of His Era
He won’t garner consideration for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, but Everson Griffen was unquestionably one of the best pass-rushers of the 2010s.
He racked up 85.5 career sacks in 170 NFL games, with 79.5 of those coming with the Vikings. A model of consistency, Griffen posted eight-plus sacks in six of his 11 seasons with the NFC North club. Along with those 85.5 career sacks, Griffen had 20 pass defenses, 10 forced fumbles and six fumble recoveries. He reached double-digit sacks thrice, including a personal-best 13 in the 2017 campaign.
Griffen is eighth all-time on the Vikings’ franchise sacks leaderboard. Hall of Famer Carl Eller leads the way in that category with 130.5.
