Teddy Bridgewater is eyeing a return to football after spending one year in retirement.
The 32-year-old Teddy Bridgewater retired from football after spending the 2023 season as a backup quarterback to Jared Goff’s Detroit Lions. Bridgewater spent 2024 as the head coach of the Miami Northwestern Senior High School football team, his alma mater, and led them to a state championship.
Speaking on NFL Network’s “The Insiders”, program, Bridgewater confirmed that he intends to end his one-year retirement and return to the pros in 2025.
“That’s the plan. My team knows that’s the plan. We wanted to win a state championship and then coach goes back to the league, see what happens, and then come back February in the offseason, continue coaching high school football. We’ll see how it plays out.”
Teddy Bridgewater was drafted 32nd overall by the Minnesota Vikings in 2014. As a sophomore, he earned his only Pro Bowl nod in 2015 after leading the team to a surprise NFC North division crown.
