A once promising season for the Dallas Cowboys ended in chaotic fashion Sunday after a 23-17 loss to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC wild-card game at AT&T Stadium. Mike McCarthy’s job as head coach of the Dallas Cowboys very well may be in question as a result.
To secure the win, the 49ers had to withstand a final-second comeback that saw Dak Prescott run 17 yards on a quarterback draw, but the ball was not spotted quickly enough for Dallas to spike it before time expired. McCarthy thought there would be a review from New York and defended the final playcall despite the risk of having the game end the way it did.
One former Dallas defender and ESPN personality is calling for the coach’s job.
Marcus Spears took to Twitter and boldly stated, “Get rid of the Coach!!! No way bro No damn way.”
Even before the Cowboys took the field, rumors surrounding McCarthy’s job status started to circulate. On Sunday, prior to the Cowboys-49ers matchup, CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora reported that if the Cowboys disappointed in the playoffs, then McCarthy could be let go and replaced with offensive coordinator Kellen Moore.
Moore’s name has come up as being a candidate fro head coach elsewhere and Jerry Jones reportedly does not want to lose him.

Following the game, Jones didn’t want to field any questions on McCarthy or his job status, instead reinforcing that the loss was unacceptable.
For now, it’s status quo in Dallas and it continues to piss the fan base off.
