Urban Meyer is rightfully being blasted on social media by former players who did not like his coaching practices, especially when it entailed physical abuse and verbal disrespect.
In the hours since his dismissal from the Jacksonville Jaguars, former players are speaking out about his actions while being coached by him.
Aaron Alexander is one of them.
On Twitter, Jemele Hill made the below post about what Urban possibly did to college kids that we don’t know about.
“The more stories that come out about how Urban Meyer conducted himself in the NFL, the more I wonder about his behavior in college behind closed doors. If he felt this free to treat grown men like this, imagine the shit he said/did to college players and coaches.”
After Jemele Hill’s post, former Bowling Green WR Aaron Alexander took to Twitter and announced all of the abuse that players went through when Urban Meyer was there.

“In my 5 yrs at BG we were struggling for wins, I guess we thought that’s what it took to win, no one ever reported his abuse at BG. I myself was kicked off the team for retaliating but he had physically abused several players before it got to me..”
Alexander, who was a redshirt senior during Urban Meyer’s first year as a head coach. also left a review detailing his physical altercation with Meyer and ensuing dismissal:
“I played for Gary Blackney the four years before Urban Meyer came in. Gary was old-school and couldn’t really relate with the times. Urban came in my redshirt senior year. Urban is wired a little different. Football-wise, he is very knowledgeable as his career success clearly demonstrates. I coach high school football now and I think back on those times from a coach’s perspective.
When you come into a losing program, I understand you are trying to change the culture. He would always say “it is all about trust.” He has to distinguish whether or not he can trust you. He is a dramatic coach and is very in-your-face.
He put his hands on three players before he got to me. He grabbed my facemask and tried to pull me to the ground. I then grabbed his neck in a choking motion and tried to push him away twice.
I then got kicked off the team with a week left in camp. I had a really good junior year and had some scouts looking my way. I played WR and Urban came from Notre Dame where he coached WRs so he was very tough on our position group. He was constantly in our faces.
He is wired different. He is cocky. He could be very disrespectful but he is trying to do it to motivate you. I come from a place where you treat people the way you want to be treated. I am also an eye for an eye guy. You spit on me, I spit on you.
I did get to experience his tenacity and fire during camp and during offseason workouts. On Bowling Green’s campus, a lot of players love Urban because we didn’t have much success before him. He is very well liked and loved by a lot of people. You either love him or you hate him. Within my senior class, a lot of those guys love him to death, but they will still back my story.”
Former kicker Josh Lambo should be thanked for coming out and accusing Meyer of literally kicking him during training camp, which was the straw that broke the camel’s back and got him fired.
It remains to be seen whether Jacksonville will be on the hook for the remaining five years (and reported $45 million) of Meyer’s contract or if they fired him with cause.
