The Chicago Bears are not helping matters when it comes to them being known as a cheap franchise. Well, this next story from Olin Kreutz isn’t going to help the franchise shed that reputation.
The former Bears center appeared on 670 the Score Friday, where he explained that former Bears offensive line coach Harry Hiestand reached out to him in an attempt to bring him aboard back in 2018. Kreutz said the Bears offered him a position as a player consultant to work with the offensive line….for $15 an hour.
“Harry wanted me to come and help develop the offensive line, help train the offensive line,” he said. “They offered me $ 15 an hour to come over as an independent contractor.”
“That’s the way they do business,” Kreutz said on 670 the Score. “Those are the things that have to change.”

Kreutz said the Bears made a similar offer to Donovan Raiola, who accepted a job with the team, but ultimately left this season to become the offensive line coach in Nebraska for a guaranteed salary of $ 325,000 a year.
The Bears are currently 6-10 and are playing for nothing besides draft position in the NFL’s final regular season week.
The franchise has only 3 seasons above .500 since the 2009 season. They have also been through four head coaches during that time period, with it soon changing to a fifth as Matt Nagy is not expected to be back in 2022.
