Dana Stubblefield was found guilty of rape Monday after an incident that took place April 9, 2015, authorities confirm.
The former San Francisco 49ers defensive lineman was convicted of forcible rape of a developmentally disabled woman while using a gun. He faces a sentence of 15 years to life in prison.
The woman who came to his home thought she was going to be interviewed as a possible babysitter. The incident took place in Morgan Hill, California.
Stubblefield was drafted in the first round (26th overall) of the 1993 NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers. He rewarded the team by leading them with 10.5 sacks, becoming the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year.
In 1997, he recorded 15 sacks and was named 1997’s NFL Defensive Player of the Year by The Associated Press.
