Kayshon Boutte was arrested on charges related to illegal online gaming from his time as a student-athlete at LSU.
Scottie Hunter of WAFB 9 in Baton Rouge reported that the New England Patriots wide receiver turned himself in on Thursday after an arrest warrant was issued for a felony charge of computer fraud and a misdemeanor count of gaming prohibited for persons under 21.
Boutte reportedly placed over 8,900 sports bets with at least 17 of them being on NCAA games. Of note, at least six of them were on LSU football games.
One piece of footage has been found where it was a game he bet on himself and he was clearly upset with the way things were going. He reportedly was upset after the game and now we know why.

The affidavit states that Boutte placed an eight-leg parlay prior to Week 1 of the 2022 college football season that included him going over 82.5 receiving yards and scoring a touchdown anytime.
State police found that Boutte participated in sports gambling from April 6, 2022, until May 7, 2023, when he was 20 years old. Boutte was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish jail on the charges on Thursday.
State police noted that the investigation is ongoing, and additional charges “may be forthcoming.”
LSU issued the following statement in regard to Boutte’s illegal gambling charges:
“In July 2023, LSU was made aware of allegations regarding a former student-athlete’s improper conduct related to sports gambling while enrolled at the University,” LSU said in a statement. “Since then, we have fully cooperated with all relevant authorities involved in the investigation and will continue to do so. We have no evidence that any other student-athletes participated in these prohibited activities, and we are grateful for measures that detect and discourage sports gambling related misconduct.”
The Patriots told ESPN that they are aware of the charges against Boutte, adding that they are “aware” that he is cooperating with the state police investigation.
Boutte was drafted in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft but played sparingly during his first season with the Patriots.
