Ten days after suffering a minor injury to his right throwing hand, New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton participated in practice as the team opened mandatory minicamp.
Things don’t appear to be going well as video showed him overthrowing players while rookie QB Mac Jones was completing his passes.
That video could very well be made in a way to make Cam look terrible as it only showed a small amount of his passes on this day.
Bill Belichick even praised him on Tuesday.
“Cam’s way ahead of where he was last year at this time, there’s no question about that,” Belichick said. “As you would expect, he has a good year of experience under his belt. He’s able to start the process at the beginning and not be in a catch-up mode like he was last year.”
Belichick had left open the possibility that Newton could face a challenge for the starting job when the team shifts from a spring teaching mode to more of an evaluation mode at the start of training camp in late July.
