Jaire Alexander wanted Justin Jefferson in the worst way, but he wanted to make sure that his teammates knew it as well.
The Packers shut down Justin Jefferson on Sunday. The Packers’ pass defense had a plan for him in Week 17 and executed it perfectly.
Footage shows cornerback Jaire Alexander and the entire Packers DB group putting a target on the Vikings WR before the game was played.
The team made a concentrated effort to have more than one body around Jefferson at all times. There’s risk in that, but it was a risk the Packers deemed worth taking considering they had already seen what happens when Jefferson doesn’t get extra attention.
In the first matchup between these two teams back in Week 1, Justin Jefferson put the league back on notice, as his nine-reception, 184-yard, 2-TD outing was a superb way to open the year.
Their second matchup saw Jefferson have one catch for 15 yards on five targets, which was his lowest reception total of the year and second-lowest receiving yardage total on the season.
