The Eagles entered the season scheduled for five prime-time games. Now they’ll be playing in a sixth.
The NFL said on Thursday that the Eagles’ Week 15 matchup with the 6-5 Seattle Seahawks on December 17th will now take place on ESPN’s Monday Night Football, moving the game forward one day. The Kansas City Chiefs (8-3) and the New England Patriots (2-9) will now play at 1 p.m. on Sunday instead as they likely expect that game to be a complete mismatch.
The NFL is flexing a game into Monday Night Football for the first time ever so this is major history we are witnessing. Although Sunday Night Football games have been flexed in and out of the league since 2006, this season marks the first time Monday Night Football and Thursday Night Football games on Amazon Prime Video.
The league does not make it a habit of moving Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs out of prime time, but the Patriots have been terrible this season and are only getting worse as the season moves on.
This was an easy decision as the Eagles-Seahawks game has larger ramifications for the NFC playoffs.
The Seahawks already have a primetime game when they take on the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium on Thursday Night Football.
