On Thursday, we learned that legendary commentator Jim Nantz would not be taking his talents elsewhere after he signed a new deal with CBS.
According to Andrew Marchand of the New York Post, Nantz is getting a big raise worth upwards of $10.5 million per year. He was originally getting $6.5 million per year.
We still do not know the length of the new deal.
The news arrives amid reports that ESPN was interested in signing the longtime sportscaster, so the legend used that tactic to his advantage to get more money. As you can see, it worked.
The New York Post reported in November that Nantz wanted to be paid more than his NFL booth partner Tony Romo, who signed the richest deal in sports broadcast history last year valued at more than $17.5 million annually.
As of right now, Tony Romo strictly calls NFL games while Nantz is the voice of every premier sports broadcast on CBS.
Nantz has worked at CBS since 1985.
