A columnist for USA Today has ripped Deshaun Watson and the Cleveland Browns at a time when you might expect them to receive sympathy from just about everyone.
That’s not the case for Nancy Armour as she seems to be happy the quarterback’s season is over due to injury while she’s also pleased with the outlook for the team now that their starter is down.
“Actually, some of us have been waiting two-plus years for the universe to exact its payback on Watson and the Browns,” Nancy wrote last week.
Watson sustained a shoulder injury against the Baltimore Ravens last Sunday and, while he’s reported to have been intent on playing, he was advised to undergo season-ending surgery as he would run the risk of having his shoulder fall apart completely if he suffered another hit.
Strangely enough, another Ohio-based QB had his season come to an end while playing the Ravens this week, with Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals now also out for the remainder of 2023.
Armour is of the view that Watson is paying for the sexual assault allegations that earned him an 11-game suspension last season while the Browns are also being punished for rewarding his predatory behavior with the largest guaranteed contract in NFL history.

“And Watson thought he got away with it. Until his season ended because of an injury suffered during his best game in a Browns uniform,” she noted. “Karma, as the old saying goes, remains undefeated, and Watson earned every bit that he got.”
The columnist is not inclined to feel sorry for Watson and the Browns as she points out that he will continue to get checks, though his team might miss the playoffs.
“So spare me any outrage at not feeling bad for Watson or the Browns following Wednesday’s news that the quarterback will miss the rest of the season with a fracture in his throwing shoulder,” Nancy adds. “His career isn’t over and he’ll still get paid, and the Browns will lose like they always do — though at least this time they’ll have an excuse.”
