Well, you don’t see this every day.
According to a report from Justin Garcia of the Tampa Bay Times, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) raided the home of sports personality Tim Burke and his wife, Lynn Hurtak, of Tampa City Council on Monday.
Per the report, seven agents entered their Seminole Heights home at around 6 a.m. and seized several items belonging to Burke, including computers and a cell phone:
“The agents would not tell the Tampa Bay Times why they were there or say what law enforcement agency they represented. But an FBI spokesperson confirmed that an court-authorized search was conducted by the agency at Hurtak’s address on Monday.
Burke said on a phone call that the agents were there because they had a search warrant with his name on it. They spent the day taking his personal devices and the devices that he uses for his business, he said.
He said that they wouldn’t speak to him, and he declined to share a copy of the search warrant with the Times. The FBI said it could not share any additional information.”
Burke stated that he and Hurtak woke up to multiple agents carrying flashlights with their guns drawn, via Garcia. Per the report, Burke added that some of the property within the home was damaged.
Per his LinkedIn profile, Burke was a professor at Florida State College from Aug. 2009 to June 2011. He subsequently entered a career in sports media, working as an editor at Deadspin and later as a Director of Video at The Daily Beast in New York.
