Robert Saleh was named the head coach of the New York Jets less than four months ago, so he is still getting used to the idea that he is the head guy now.
Saleh, who spent 16 years as an assistant coach in the NFL before landing the Jets job, recently shared a funny story after the team held their first official team practice under him.
The 42-year-old said he naturally took his “normal spot” behind the huddle when the horn blew to signal the end of practice. He added he getting ready to “listen to the head coach speak” before it quickly occurred to him that he was the head coach.
“I’ll give you a quick, funny story,” Saleh told reporters. “We just had our bigs out there and we were going through stuff when the horn blew for practice to be over. I started to take my normal spot behind the huddle to listen to the head coach speak when I was like ‘Oh, shoot. That’s me.’ But no, it’s been good.”
As expected, fans had a lot to say about this:
