On Sunday, the New York Giants and Daniel Jones opened up the regular season with a Week 1 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings. The Giants lost in pretty embarrassing fashion, with the final score being 28-6.
There is certainly a lot the Giants need to clean up if they want to start winning games, but most fans are placing all of the blame on Jones. Many online have even gone as far as posting extremely inappropriate jokes about the quarterback that relate to 9/11.
A lot of the jokes center around Jones being worse than the devastating terrorist attacks, with some even comparing him to Osama Bin Laden.
“Daniel Jones is the worst thing to happen to NY in the last 23 years,” wrote one tweet.
“Daniel Jones found **** outside MetLife Stadium,” said another.
“In a serious country Daniel Jones would be beaten with hammers;” wrote a third.

People publicly criticizing players through social media has been a thing for a very long time now, but every now and then, it gets taken way too far. This is a perfect example of that.
It’s especially disturbing that such a horrible moment in American history is now being used as a joke, just to trash Jones for a bad performance.
Daniel Jones Did Not Impressive In Week 1
Just because a team loses does not mean the quarterback had a bad performance. However, that was certainly the case for Daniel Jones in Week 1.
He attempted 42 passes while only completing 22 for an abysmal 52.4 completion percentage, 186 passing yards, zero touchdowns, two interceptions, and a passer rating of 44.3.
It’s a troubling stat line for a player under a massive four-year $160 million contract with $92 million guaranteed. He is not set to become a free agent until 2027.
