The NFL has kicked off officially for the 2024 NFL season. The Atlanta Falcons are ready for Sunday’s action as they are slated to face the Pittsburgh Steelers, and quarterback Kirk Cousins will be suiting up in his first regular season game for the Falcons.
Cousins joined the Atlanta Falcons in the 2024 off-season after signing a 4-year deal with the team. He is slated to start for them on Sunday as they take on the Pittsburgh Steelers, who also have a couple of new signal-callers in town in Russell Wilson and Justin Fields.
However, the fact that Cousins is making his first start as a Falcon isn’t on top of everybody’s mind now, as an old headline has recently come out with a controversial opinion about a teammate in Washington.
The aforementioned comment came from Cousins’s comments in 2014 as he was referring to a gay teammate. “Nobody’s perfect” is what the headline claims the quarterback said, leaning on his faith, and the comment has fans talking.
NFL Fans Are Making Their Opinions On Kirk Cousins Known
One fan stood up for the recently aquatinted Atlanta Falcons quarterback, asking many questions. “Does this hurt anybody? Do we not have free speech in this country anymore? Is he not allowed to have his own opinion,” he questioned.

One NFL fan questioned everyone in the comments, asking why they were surprised by Cousins’s views: “This was basically the opinion 99.9% of people had in every major culture and religion since the beginning of humanity… and people are surprised by this.”
And one of the most wholesome comments was praising Atlanta’s signal caller’s personality, “I’ll say this, tho. Kirk seems like the type of guy where if you explained to him why that’s offensive, he’d feel bad and apologize.”
No matter how upset people feel about this comment, Cousins will be the starter as Atlanta looks to beat the Steelers on Sunday. Many fans are looking intensely to see how well Kirk will do and if Michael Penix Jr. may appear.
