Football fans are ripping on star quarterback Dak Prescott following his bold statement about his Dallas Cowboys and the Super Bowl 59 champion Philadelphia Eagles.
2024 was a rough season for the Dallas Cowboys faithful, to say the least. Not only did they finish a disappointing 7-10, but they watched the archnemesis Eagles win Super Bowl 59 — to say nothing of Jayden Daniels leading the rival Washington Commanders to a surprise NFC Championship Game appearance.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Dak Prescott raised some eyebrows when he said his Cowboys are “very close” to the Eagles, per The Athletic’s Jon Machota:

As you’d expect, social media wasted no time teeing off on Prescott over his comments:
“Yall will never have what we have. Culture. Ownership, front office, coaching, and locker room all align and make each other their best,” one fan said.

“Competing is nice Dak. But after 10 years, maybe you should consider winning a Divisional round game if you want anyone to take you seriously. Just a thought. Watching JD5 do it as a rookie has all of us Cowboy fans sick. And Dak, your contract isn’t helping,” quipped another.

One has to respect Dak Prescott’s confidence, but the Cowboys are actually miles behind the Eagles. Jerry Jones’ refusal to remove himself from the GM chair has held the Cowboys back for three decades now, for starters.
The Cowboys also don’t have the No. 1 defense, a top-tier offensive line, an MVP-caliber weapon like Saquon Barkley or a prolific pass-catching tandem in A.J. Brown or DeVonta Smith. Their offense relies too much on CeeDee Lamb, with no other game-changing weapons there to help him out.
Dak Prescott Begins $240 Million Extension In 2025
The 31-year-old Prescott signed a four-year contract extension worth $240 million before the Cowboys kicked off their regular season. Prescott was limited to eight games last year because of injury, so the pressure is on him to stay healthy and live up to that deal in 2025 and beyond.
