NFL fans are blasting FOX Sports’ Colin Cowherd over his wild trade proposal that would see the Pittsburgh Steelers trade franchise stars T.J. Watt, George Pickens and two draft picks for their new franchise quarter.
Countless fans and pundits are calling for the Steelers to make another change following their embarrassing playoff loss to the Baltimore Ravens. Next season will mark nine years since Pittsburgh’s last postseason victory (the 2016 Divisional Round), and 15 years since their last Super Bowl appearance (2010).
Pittsburgh will likely be in the market for another quarterback with Russell Wilson and Justin Fields both set to enter free agency. Given the mediocre production by both QBs in 2024, it’s unlikely that either will return in 2025.
Speaking on the latest edition of “The Herd with Colin Cowherd”, the polarizing analyst proposed that the Steelers trade T.J. Watt, George Pickens and two first-round picks to move up and select Colorado Buffaloes QB Shedeur Sanders.
"I would trade T.J. Watt, George Pickens, two first rounders and go get Shedeur Sanders if you think he's a starting QB."

Let’s just say that fans weren’t exactly on board with Cowherd’s trade proposal centering around T.J. Watt:

Both T.J. Watt and George Pickens are entering the final year of their respective contracts. Given Watt’s age (31 in October), he probably wouldn’t fetch anything higher than a second-round pick.
If Pittsburgh were to theoretically package both in a trade, however, they would get at least a first-rounder and more. But there aren’t any indicators that GM Omar Khan is open to trading either player, let alone looking to move up aggressively for a QB like Sanders.
Steelers Need To Make A Decision On T.J. Watt Soon
With Watt entering the last year of his contract, the Steelers would be better off deciding on his future as soon as possible. If an extension isn’t an option for the two parties, Pittsburgh should trade him now while his value is at its highest.
