According to multiple reports, the Falcons are trading for Lions CB Jeff Okudah.
The former No. 3 pick has had a rough start to his career due to injuries and now he will get a fresh start in Atlanta. The Falcons will send a 2023 fifth-round pick to the Lions.
Okudah was facing an uncertain future given how aggressively the Lions had added to their secondary this offseason. He now will not have to worry about that going forward.
The 24-year-old started one season at Ohio State and earned All-American honors before the Lions used the No. 3 overall pick in the 2020 draft on him. The Lions were nearly forced to make a decision regarding Okudah’s fifth-year option, but now it appears the Falcons will make that choice.
Okudah will have two years left on his contract before hitting free agency in 2025. If they don’t, Okudah will have one year to prove himself before testing free agency next spring.
