The Atlanta Falcons are trying highly-touted first-round pick and running back Bijan Robinson at a different position.
On their team Twitter account, the Falcons posted a video of Robinson playing wide receiver in practice:
Robinson has stated that head coach Arthur Smith will utilize him “everywhere”, including at wide receiver and his natural position. That might explain why the Falcons used the No. 8 selection on the Texas Longhorns’ product.
Many were stunned when Atlanta took Robinson No. 8 overall, and it wasn’t at all a knock against his talents. It’s the fact that Atlanta already has a 1,000-yard rusher in 2022 rookie standout Tyler Allgeier as well as the versatile Cordarrelle Patterson, whom Smith has frequently used as his lead RB.
But if Smith finds a way to use Robinson as a play-making pass-catcher, the Falcons will have silenced the critics in short time. In his final year of college, Robinson racked up 1,580 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns to go along with 19 receptions for 314 yards and two receiving touchdowns.

The Falcons are presumably going to roll with 2022 third-round pick Desmond Ridder as their starting QB. In Robinson, Allgeier, Patterson, tight end Kyle Pitts and wideout Drake London, Ridder certainly won’t be short on weapons to work with.
