Someone from the Atlanta Falcons had to call the NFL to have its social media admin take down a tweet that put the franchise in a really bad spot.
There was absolutely no reason for it, but the NFL somehow decided to post the Super Bowl LI game between the Falcons and New England Patriots from 2017, a devastating ATL loss, in its entirety.
Falcons fans were not happy given the heartbreaking reminder, but supporters of other teams had all the jokes about the league posting nearly two hours of footage to Twitter for no reason at all. Fortunately, the tweet has been taken down, with reports claiming someone from the Falcons organization made a call to get it deleted.
So why is this such a heartbreaker for Atlanta fans? Well, the Falcons had a 25-point lead over the Patriots in the third quarter after an extra-point kick from Matt Bryant that followed a touchdown from Tevin Coleman.
Somehow, Atlanta would go on to lose 34-28 as they failed to score a single point after that kick.
It’s been almost six years since the game, yet social media has kept it relevant. That the NFL itself would get in on the trolling was considered a bit much, however.
