The Atlanta Falcons are coming into the 2023 season with new hope and a new position.
The Falcons dropped their initial depth chart for the 2023 season, and many couldn’t help but notice a giant bolded J next to Cordarrelle Patterson’s name.
The “J” first confused fans, but Patterson clarified it when he changed the image that appeared as his Twitter profile photo to one of the Joker from Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight.”
The new position name couldn’t make more sense for Patterson, because he is a man who has many tricks up his sleeve and is up for playing anywhere that the coach tells him to. He’s been a wide receiver, a returner, and a running back, sometimes all in the same game.
Patterson has taken the field for five different teams across the past decade.

After his huge breakout for 618 rushing yards in 2021, Patterson improved to 695 rushing yards in 2022 and did so in three fewer games than the season before.
He will face an additional challenge during the 2023 season, with rookie superstar Bijan Robinson joining the team via the 2023 NFL Draft. The veteran may have to rely more on his dynamic skillset this year, but the Falcons’ offensive roster allows him to do so.
Patterson has been dealing with a soft tissue injury, so his status remains questionable for Sunday.
