Preseason injuries are the worst, especially when they happen to star players.
The Atlanta Falcons received a scare of this sort on Friday, when first-round wide receiver Drake London went down with a knee injury during the team’s preseason contest against the Detroit Lions.
London was seen exiting the field with a noticeable limp before heading to the medical tent for further evaluation. He was later seen exiting the tent and holding his helmet on the sideline, however, he did not return to the contest.
Here’s a look at the play that caused the injury:
After the game, Falcons coach Arthur Smith spoke to the media about London’s injury.

He didn’t provide much details, stating that he would be further evaluated and the team would know more on Saturday. But according to sources, it’s not believed to be anything serious, although today’s tests should paint a clearer picture of the young wideout’s availability.
The Falcons are hoping for big things from London in 2022, as he, Marcus Mariota and Kyle Pitts will be expected to lead this young, up-and-coming offense.
London caught his lone target for 24 yards before exiting yesterday’s contest. It’s very likely that’s the only action he sees before the regular season begins.
