There is mutual interest between Bill Belichick and the Atlanta Falcons, yet the team could experience some problems getting a deal over the line.
Belichick has been interviewed by the team on two occasions, also meeting owner Arthur Blank during one of his meetings. Still, it’s understood that there could be something else in play.
While the Falcons are favored to land the former New England Patriots head coach, Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer is reporting that Belichick might have a problem reporting to CEO Rich McKay, whom he has had issues with for a long time.
“That setup, a year later, might need more adjusting, because it’s hard to see Belichick being comfortable with any sort of arrangement where he’s reporting to McKay,” Breer wrote.
“Mostly because, well, those two haven’t been on the same page over the years, with the former Patriot coach’s (often open) disdain for the NFL’s competition committee that McKay has long chaired.”
A conflicting report suggests Belichick would overrule McKay if he’s hired and will be running things his way.
Might it come down to the Falcons having to choose between Belichick and McKay? It shouldn’t be long before we find out.

Belichick, though, is at a disadvantage given that there are other top coaching options out there at the moment. However, the dynamics involved in his role could make it so there aren’t any issues anyway.
