CBS has announced that former NFL quarterback Matt Ryan has joined them as a football analyst.
According to the network, the four-time Pro Bowl QB will work as a studio analyst, as well as a game analyst, across their platforms. Ryan, named the league’s MVP in 2016, is set to call football games and appear on other shows such as The NFL Today, The Other Pregame Show (TOPS), NFL Monday, and CBS Sports HQ.
“As one of the NFL’s marquee quarterbacks for the past 15 years, we’re thrilled to add Matt to our talented roster of NFL analysts,” CBS Sports executive producer and executive vice president of production, Harold Bryant, said on the development.
“He has played the game at the highest level, including winning an MVP award and taking his team to the Super Bowl, and will bring a fresh perspective to CBS Sports. We look forward to Matt sharing his knowledge, insight, and opinions with our viewers and bolstering our NFL coverage.”
Ryan took to Twitter to share the news himself, also noting it’s not a retirement announcement.
The 37-year-old was drafted as the No. 3 overall pick out of Boston College by the Falcons in 2008 and went on to become one of the best QBs in the history of the game. He ranks top 10 in all-time passing yards with 62,772, touchdowns with 381, completions with 5,551, and attempts with 8,464. He also helped fire the Falcons to Super Bowl LI during his MVP year.
Ryan spent the 2022 season with the Indianapolis Colts.
