Arthur Smith may need to get a little better in his responses as the season progresses.
After the Falcons lost to the New Orleans Saints, the Falcons head coach had a bizarre quote about reporters writing the team’s obituary earlier in the offseason.
“You guys wrote our obituary back in May. You will continue to write our obituary. Who cares? We have 16 (more) games.”
Arthur Smith agreed to terms with Atlanta to become their next head coach back in January of 2021.
The 38-year-old spent the two seasons before that as the offensive coordinator for the Tennessee Titans, molding the unit into one of the best in the NFL.
Smith had spent 10 years in Tennessee, working his way up from a defensive quality control coach to one of the top coordinators in the game.
