As expected, there are a ton of teams who would like to secure Julio Jones on their roster for next season to better help their Super Bowl chances.
Dianna Russini of ESPn reported just last week that the team discussed several trade offers for the all-pro WR and that one of those offers included a future first-round pick.
Yahoo insider Charles Robinson is reporting this week that the team not only wants a first-round pick in any trade involving Jones, but they are also looking for players to be sent back to them in return.
“From what I’ve been told, the price for Julio Jones in talks with at least one team was a first round pick, plus players,” Robinson tweeted. “That’s steep and I have a hard time believing the Falcons get that. And there’s also the reality that Julio may want a new deal, too.”
Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk also wrote about Jones’ desire to get a new contract as well.
“The question is whether he’ll want a new deal on the way in, or whether he’ll want one after the 2021 season,” Florio wrote. “Either way, the notion that the Jones contract is attractive because an elite player can be gotten for $12.775 million per year over three years overlooks the reality that, sooner than later, Jones will want his contract to be adjusted — especially if he has a huge first year at his next destination.”
