It appears that a photoshopped meme has influenced the Super Bowl betting market.
Over the past few days, social media has been going nuts over an image circulating from an old episode of “The Simpsons” that has caused bettors to take serious action on a specific Super Bowl prop bet. If you don’t know, ‘The Simpsons’ has a long history of old episodes being scary accurate when it comes to predicting the future.
Some sports bettors deemed it a good enough reason to put down a few dollars on a very specific prop bet. That bet? The Cincinnati Bengals defeating the Los Angeles Rams by an exact score of 34-31 in Super Bowl LVI.
According to BetMGM, that exact score is the most-bet correct score prop on the board. The book lowered it from 125-1 to 80-1 because of all the action, MGM trader Darren Darby told The Action Network.
Bengals 34, Rams 31 is now FanDuel’s most-bet exact score prop.

“We have a variety of scores to choose from,” Hennessy said. “This is one, but there are a lot of others. We weren’t originally aware of the meme until we noticed it was being selected.”
Unfortunately for these bettors, the image is the Bengals playing the Dolphins, and it was a regular season game. The “Go Bengals” Homer image is from an episode that aired 13 years later.
Basically, the Simpsons did not predict that the Bengals would beat an LA team in the Super Bowl.
