A fake quote attributed to Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown totally fooled one of the coaches from the Green Bay Packers this week.
The Packers ended up with a surprising win after Thursday’s Thanksgiving divisional clash and, who knows? They were probably fired up by something they thought Amon-Ra said.
The quote was making the rounds on social media prior to the game, with St. Brown being falsely quoted to have said that he could not name a single player on the Green Bay defense. Of course, the internet ate it up and, Packers defensive line coach Jerry Montgomery was apparently fired up as he would tell quarterback Jordan Love to “Ask 14 if he knows anybody on defense’s name now!” after the huge win.
The Packers’ defense did a solid job on Thursday as they held the Lions’ offense to just six points in the first half, running out to a 23-6 lead in the first two quarters. They won the game by a single touchdown – 29-22 – but Detroit got half of their points in the dying embers.
It appears Montgomery had a point to prove on the day. Fans certainly won’t care that the comment which lit a fire under him was fake.
