Ezekiel Elliott was the NFL’s highest-paid running back until Christian McCaffrey set a new market a few months ago with his massive deal.
On Tuesday, the Dallas Cowboys running back saw a huge chunk of what he made absorbed by the United States government. After he paid off his income tax bill, Elliott took to Twitter and reacted hilariously to having to say goodbye to that money.
It was back in 2019 when Elliott held out of training camp to secure a long-term contract. The Cowboys eventually agreed to give him a whopping $90 million over six years, with his $15 million-per-year average ranking 2nd in the league behind McCaffrey, who’s making just over $16 million per year.
After signing his deal, Elliott put up 1,357 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns. He also added 54 catches for 420 yards and another 2 touchdowns.
