On Thursday, former Cleveland Browns OT Joe Thomas decided to campaign for Ezekiel Elliott getting every bit of money that he deserves by first stating that he should let the Cowboys phone calls go to voicemail if they send him anything less than what Todd Gurley received.
He then brought up a point about players being the best at their position being paid more money than the current guy, which made Ezekiel Elliott actually retweet that onto his timeline.
“Throughout the course of NFL history, if you are the best player at your position (or clearly one of the best) when you re-sign a second contract with the team that drafted you, you usually beat the highest paid current contract at your position by 15 to 20 percent,” Thomas wrote. “There is a valid argument to be made, that because of Zeke’s suspension and off the field issues, his value should be reduced, so even if you reduce the value a little bit, he should still beat the Gurley contract by 5%.”
That pretty much gives you an idea of what he is looking for in his next contract.
