Earlier this year, the Washington Commanders released safety and team captain Deshazor Everett three months after his alleged role in a fatal car crash that killed 29-year-old Olivia Peters.
Everett was charged with involuntary manslaughter in early February after authorities say he was speeding — twice the posted 45 mph speed limit just prior to the crash.
Fast forward to July and the free agent safety has pleaded guilty to misdemeanor reckless driving over the December 2021 car accident.
“The former Washington Commanders captain entered the plea in a Loudoun County courtroom on Tuesday after prosecutors reduced his initial charge from felony involuntary manslaughter.
Everett — who’s due back in court in September for sentencing — is still facing up to a year behind bars if the judge decides to throw the book at him.”
Everett was driving a 2010 Nissan GT-R with Peters as a passenger when it crashed. The vehicle left the roadway, striking several trees before rolling over. Witnesses told the 911 dispatcher that the car was “trapped in the trees” and that it had flipped over.
