What a terrile attempt to try and explain this non-call.

During the second quarter of the Thursday night game between the Bucs and Cowboys — Dak Prescott had just gotten lucky to have not thrown an interception as Lavonte David just missed it while in the air.

After the play, he took his helmet off and slammed it in frustration. He did not receive a penalty.

I'm okay with the no-call unsportsmanlike for the helmet. It's not a celebration or taunting. Players can remove the helmet to adjust after a play, and there's clearly a little more to it than that here, but a flag is just too technical. Ex-VP Of Officiating Mike Pereira tried to explain that he did not get a penalty because he took his helmet off in frustration and not celebrating.

“People are going to ask why was that not a foul for removing your helmet. It’s because it wasn’t to celebrate, Thats for sure, and it wasn’t done in a taunting action to opponent or the officials. It really doesn’t fall into the category of a foul.”
